After
a year of testing and thousands of miles on some of the most brutal
roads in Europe, we decided to put one into production and offer it to
the general public. Our test team put their bike through the trenches,
and now its your chance to experience the same ride
The frame was
designed with one thing in mind, to be as efficient as possible. We
wanted to produce a frame that would transfer all the riders energy from
the pedals to the rear wheel, but not beat the rider up in doing so.
To start, we looked at the heart of the bike, the bottom bracket.
Based around a PF30, we built up the over sized shell with layer upon
layer of carbon in a pattern that keeps it incredibly stiff. Coming off
of the BB are the oversized chainstays, which keep that power in full
force as it goes from the crank to the rear wheel. The seat tube is
asymmetric to increase pedaling efficiency and reduce frame flex brought
on by hard pedaling. To keep vibration from reaching the rider's body,
the seatstays curve into the toptube to keep the vibration making its
way up the seatpost. To keep the rider in control, we gave it a massive
head tube, utilizing a tapered headset, 1 1/2" lower and 1 1/8" upper.
This creates the most reliable cornering, while keeping the rider in
control when encountering rough roads.
The frame is setup for
internal wiring for electric shifting, so we went with the tried and
trued Shimano Ultegra Di2 group. Di2 provides the most reliable
shifting imaginable, shift after shift. Rather than going with the
standard external battery, we opted for an FSA SL-K seatpost with a
battery mount for the new Shimano E-Tube battery. No need to worry
about the battery being exposed to the elements. The crank is the
ultralight FSA K-Force Lite mated to an Ceramic FSA PF30 BB. Testing
has shown that a ceramic BB can reduce friction by up to 10%! The
wheels are FSA K-Wings. These wheels are super aero. and are built
around 6 cartridge bearings for an incredibly smooth ride. We hit all
the stops with this one, and now one lucky rider can experience the
ultimate ride!
